Lime Slaking Process
It is combined with grinding equipment and a powder separator to form a hydrated lime production line. The quick lime block of about 3 cm is processed by the grinding equipment into powder, then it can pass through the lime slaker, and repeatedly stirred and reacted with water for up to 15-20 minutes to make a powdered hydrated lime product with adjustable fineness.
What is Lime Slaker
Lime slaker is a special lime slaking equipment for slaking quicklime (calcium oxide) into hydrated lime milk or powder. It is now widely used in many industries: steelmaking, chemical industry, metallurgy, papermaking, power plant desulfurization, alumina, titanium dioxide, sugar making, biopharmaceuticals, and soda ash manufacturing.
There are mainly 3 types of lime slakers designed for lime slaking system:Detention Slaker, Paste Slaker and Ball mill Slaker.
Classification of Paste Lime Slakers
The Paste detention slakers supplied by AGICO are divided into 2 series: Drum Slakers (GXH type) and (JXH type) slaker. There are more than 10 models in the 2 types for different customers to choose from. The drum slakers are mainly used to hydrate quicklime into lime milk, and the JXH type slakers can be used to process quicklime into slaked lime powder.

Drum Type Lime Slaker Structure and Feature
The drum slaker has a rotating cylinder, a gear, a power device (composed of large and small gears), and a milk filter device, a slag discharge device, and a spray device at the tail of the ash machine cylinder. The cylinder is divided into 4 sections: pre-Lime slaking section, Lime slaking section, homogenization section, and slag milk separation section.
How does drum type lime slaker work? The rotary motion of the lime slaker cylinder drives the rotation of the reflection plate, the shovel plate, the filter plate, and the damping plate inside the cylinder to replace the stirring Lime slaking method.

Working Principle of Drum Lime Slakers
- Quicklime Feed: either in block or powdered form, is uniformly transferred to the drum lime slaker tank via a closed bucket-type lifting and feeding system.
- Water Spray: Inside the drum, a metering water spraying system ensures even distribution of water, which mixes thoroughly with the quicklime material in the slaker bin. The water volume can be adjusted while the equipment is operating.
- Powder Separator: The fully enclosed conveying device then transports the slaked lime powder to a circulating airflow separator. This separator screens out lime powder that doesn’t meet the required fineness.
- Package: Finished product that meets the standard is directly sealed and bagged.
During the hydration process, the lime slaker produces a mixed gas containing hot steam and dust. This gas is drawn out through a negative pressure pipeline and stirred repeatedly with water in a sealed container. The water absorbs most of the heated gas, which is then routed back to the front end of the lime slaker for heat recycle.

The JXH lime slaker is mainly used to process slake quicklime into slaked lime powder or lime milk. It is divided into 2 types: single-axis mixing and double-axis mixing, each type is divided into 2 forms: series type and combined type. How does JXH Lime Slaker work? The spray device add water into the mixing tank with quicklime, when quicklime is fully stirred in the mixing tank and gradually dissolved, hydrated, and homogenized through the rotation of the specially designed grinding and mixing blades. The mixing blades also push the slaked lime powder forward. The damping plate and limit plate components in the mixing tank ensure the lime slaking time so that the quicklime is thoroughly hydrated.
