Agico carbonization equipment is also named biomass charcoal gas co-production, it uses biomass materials to produce carbonized materials and steam. The process is to isolate the raw materials from air and heat them to reduce non-carbon elements. The equipment is mainly composed of silo, elevator, feeder, furnace body, refractory material, rotating device, temperature measuring device, PLC control cabinet, cooling device, settling chamber, steam waste heat boiler, fan and dust removal device. This equipment is divided into two types: internal heating and external heating.
Activated Carbon - Carbonization Process
Carbonisation is a particular form of that process in chemical technology called pyrolysis that is the breakdown of complex substances into simpler ones by heating. Carbonization is the term used when complex carbonaceous substances such as wood or agricultural residues are broken down by heating into elemental carbon and chemical compounds which may also contain some carbon in their chemical structure. The term carbonisation is also applied to the pyrolysis of coal to produce coke.It is a destructive distillation process for low temperature, the raw material stays in low temperature and air-isolated condition to realize a series of physical and chemical changes in materials. Physical reaction sucn as dehydration, degasification and drying, non carbon matters such as oxygen, hydrogen will be discharged.Most importantely, graphite microcrystalline structure is formed in this process.
Carbonized product may have different dimension and shape requirement, carbonized material shall have initial holes or gaps and high hardness. Carbonization process is completed mainly in 3 steps: 150 ℃ for drying, to remove water content; 150-300℃ for pysolysis process. Raw material begin to decompose and creat several types of gases(CO, CO2, H2)etc, different raw material may requires different temperature in this step; 300-600℃ for carbonization step, more byproduct of carbon will be seperated from raw material, such as tar, methyl alcohol, ethylene,etc.

Activated Carbon - Activation Process
After raw material is carbonized and filtered out small particles of a certain range, moisture content is lowered below 15%. The carbonized materials are transferred by elevator bin to the feeder, after it get into the furnace with variable frequency feeder, furnace temperature shall be preheated above 800 ℃. A certain ratio of mixed gas of oxygen and vapor is delivered into furnace for activation process.
To produce 1 ton activated carbon product, 4 tons of vapor is needed. Penetrating vapor is more suitable than spreading vapor for high efficiency with lower ignition loss. Pre-heating section of the furnace rotates as well as the materials, when the temperature rises up to 800℃, the activation section will begin. The temperature of raw material will get to 900-1050℃ within a short time, it is heated by the vapor. This is called the the activation process, last for more than half a hour, during this process temperature and oxygen amount shall be controlled. At the dischage section, raw material temperature will be around 550 ℃, and finally lowered to 200℃, then it will enter the water cooling equipment, where its temperature will be 30-40℃ after a few minutes, and it is ready to be packed in large bags and delivered easily to next step - grinding.
