Different Burner Design for Industry Rotary Kilns
Burner Role in Rotary Kiln
The role of burners in rotary kiln is a fundamental aspect that dictates the efficiency, output quality, and environmental impact of the kiln’s operation. Essentially, burners serve as the heart of the rotary kiln, providing the necessary heat via combustion of fuels to carry out various industrial processes such as calcination, thermal desorption, organic combustion, or heat treatment.
- The rotary kiln burner is an efficient and environmentally friendly combustion equipment, combustion reactions occur under high temperature conditions to produce high temperature flue gas.
- The working principle of the rotary kiln burner mainly involves the mixing of fuel and air, the combustion reaction and the transfer of thermal energy.
- The rotary kiln burner achieves efficient combustion of fuel and heat energy through a specially designed combustion chamber and air flow organization.

Rotary Kiln Burner Manufacture
With the continuous application of new dry method kiln external decomposition technology in cement production, the requirements for burners are also increasingly higher. Given their significant impact on the technical performance and operation rate of rotary kilns, AGICO as the cement equipment design and manufacturing companies focus on the development and research of burners.

Burner Types and Rotary Kiln Types
According to fuel types, rotary kilns are categorized by heat source into: gas-fired rotary kilns, coal dust rotary kilns, and oil-fired rotary kilns, among which, gas-fired rotary kilns include: natural gas rotary kilns, coke oven gas rotary kilns, blast furnace gas rotary kilns, gasifier coal gas rotary kilns, converter gas rotary kilns, etc. Burner types are gas type burner, oil fired burner, coal dust fired burner
Rotary Kiln Burners Feature and Benefit
- The rotary kiln burner is quite long, generally between 1500mm-4000mm, depending on the production process and output of the rotary kiln. - Wide Range of Burner Length
- The combustion tube of the rotary kiln burner is made of heat resistant materials and equipped with secondary protection measures, which not only prolongs the service life but also adapts well to high-temperature environments. - Heat Resistant Materials for Long Service Life
- The rotary kiln burner has comprehensive safety protection measures, various functions such as automatic ignition, flameout alarm, cutoff, leakage alarm, and pressure control are available. - Safety Production Measures
Rotary Kiln Burner Design and Development
The development of rotary kiln burners has reached the fourth generation of products until now, from single channel burner to 4 channel burners.
Single-channel Burner Design
Single-channel burners have large primary air volume, narrow flame adjustment range, low flexibility, and poor adaptability to different coal qualities. They are suitable for long rotary kilns and are also suitable for dry rotary kiln production except for wet kilns.
2-channel Burner Design
3-channel Burner Design
In the early 1980s, with the shortening of rotary kilns and the development of preheaters and decomposers, three-channel burners were developed, which saved primary air volume and could produce short, dispersed, and strong vortex flames when burning coal powder.
3rd-generation Burner Design
The 3rd-generation burners developed in the late 1990s have slender flames but are relatively concentrated. The advantage is that the flame temperature is high, and the velocity at the burner outlet is high, reducing the primary air volume.
4-channel Burner Design
4-channel burners are the latest generation of combustion equipment specially designed for rotary kilns. Their design can use the base of the pyrolysis flame to form a circulating vortex, generating an ideal stable flame during kiln ignition. The main features are energy saving (by significantly reducing the primary air volume) and reducing environmental pollution (by reducing NOx emissions).
Rotary Kiln Burner Structure
The rotary kiln burner system consists of the burner body, coal powder transport pipe, trolley, and the ignition oil gun system: main body outer air duct, recirculating air duct, coal air duct, central air duct, support pipe, center sleeve, and the air intake parts for each section. Among these, the head structure of the burner is a key component of the equipment, as shown in Figure
